The Heart and Soul of Saint-Henri
February 8, 2024, to May 11, 2025

Learn the fascinating stories of the Saint-Henri neighbourhood: that of its development and of the people who built it and gave it life over the years. The community of exceptional artisans in the 17th and 18th centuries, the many laborers in what became a cradle of industry in Canada, and the people who today make up this neighbourhood in which solidarity and innovation go hand in hand.
The exhibition, which features over 300 authentic objects, principally from the private collections of neighbourhood citizens, encourages visitors to view Saint-Henri from two angles. First, by examining its industrial landscape and the various transportation corridors that fostered its expansion, along with the buildings and residential architecture typical of this working-class neighbourhood. Then, by looking at a more intimate landscape, focused on its residents’ lifestyle. Several first-hand accounts, images, archival documents, set pieces, and interactive elements are presented alongside the many objects on display. A unique invitation to explore 350 years of history!
