Ugly Creatures
From June 20, 2024, to May 18, 2025
Discover a fascinating exhibition where ugliness becomes a masterpiece!
Slimy, shiny, wrinkled, or downright ugly: although nature hasn't been kind to them, some species captivate our curiosity. Questioning their appearance allows us to see them differently and understand their uniqueness. Even in their hideousness, these animals play essential roles in life, contributing to biodiversity. Their surprising characteristics encourage us to rethink our perception and question the criteria that define ugliness, including those we apply to ourselves and others. The exhibition will explain how our relationships with "ugly animals" have evolved and what historical and cultural elements might have sparked disdain and fear towards certain species. Humor and science coexist in this original exhibition!
This exhibition is made possible with financial support from the Government of Quebec.
