Come discover the culture, history and language of the Anishinabeg of Kitigan Zibi through exhibits, activities and guided tours. Kitigan Zibi is an Algonquin nation. Our exhibit showcasing the history and culture of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg community as a people and nation. Permanent archaeological exhibition.

The Algonquins of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg
This exhibit showcases the history and culture of the Kitagan Zibi Anishinabeg, as a people and a nation. It includes what was worn (hide dresses), modes of transportation (birch bark canoes), what was used for survival (bow and arrow, baskets, traps), beliefs (wampum belts, legends), and the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg of today.

Kitchi Sibi
The Cultural Centre is home to a permanent archaeological exhibit called the Kitchi Sibi. It is a collection of donated artifacts which we found along the Ottawa River over the past 150 years by people and archaeologists. (The exhibit has on display some 8,000 year old artifacts such as: fossilized bones, stone tools (javelin points, stone lances , arrowheads); specialized tools (notched points, axes, adzes, bone needles); pieces of clay pipes and pottery, and copper items (projectile points, knives, fish hooks, needles).
