The Benedictine community of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, founded in 1912 by monks from France, offers you a journey through time, art, beauty and the peace that emanates from its abbey, the only one of its kind in Quebec. Located near Lake Memphremagog, in the magnificent Eastern Townships region, the community of 25 monks is still very much alive. Here, you'll discover a peaceful place where you can dive deep inside, marvel at the beauty of its architecture and awaken your taste buds with the monks' handcrafted products, including their famous cheeses, which have won awards in Quebec and around the world!
The Abbey offers a variety of services, including guided tours and audio guides in summer. In autumn, you'll be enchanted by family apple-picking and the beauty of the countryside. In winter, a beautiful exhibition of international nativity scenes is on display during the Christmas season. And let's not forget the artistic and spiritual richness of the monks' lives, with their time of prayer and Gregorian chant leading to a world of unparalleled interiority.
The church and store are open all year round. All are welcome to attend the various services, including mass, Lauds and Vespers. Meditation and renewal stays are also available by telephone reservation only.
