Femmes De Paroles
For the fifth consecutive year, the ART[O] cooperative is proud to celebrate International Women's Day. On
this day of meaning and solidarity, ART[O] aims to recognize and celebrate the cultural, social, political, and
economic achievements of women and girls.
The event will begin with a walk at Gerry-Boulet Park (in downtown Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) at 11am
organized by Collectivement Elles, a group of women artists who will exhibit in the Petite Galerie de la Coop
and in collaboration with Coffre, from the employment district. This year the color purple will be featured
during the march.
Location here
Grouped under the theme of "Femmes de paroles" the opening of the two exhibitions will take place at
1:30 p.m. at the cooperative. The artists' collectives will use their works to express their gratitude to the
pioneers of art and the women's movement. The artists' collectives will express through their works the
inspiration they draw from those who are still fighting for women's rights.
At 4 p.m., the singer Chantal Blanchais, accompanied by the pianist, will offer to perform socially conscious
songs that inspired the creation of the various exhibiting artists. They have both performed in major cities
around the world. The singer has opened for artists such as Mes Aïeux, Stéphane Rousseau, Jean Lapointe,
and even Whitney Houston. She has already won the Granby International Song Festival. As for the pianist,
he has played for numerous celebrities, including Céline Dion.
