Discover the cultural sites of Île d'Orléans - Heritage site
Located 10 minutes from downtown Quebec City, Île d'Orléans is a designated heritage site. The rich and unique landscapes, along with the atmospheres of the six municipalities that make up the island, will captivate you as you travel through. Each municipality has a distinct heritage and agricultural character centered around a village core where remarkable heritage buildings and sites are concentrated: church, rectory, central church square, cemetery, chapels, school, convent, houses, shops, barns, workshops, wharf...
Once you leave the village, the agricultural buildings dominate and blend with rural and natural landscapes that offer exceptional views of the St. Lawrence River.
INTERPRETATION CENTERS
Beyond the scenery, Île d'Orléans also boasts over 400 years of history: not only did Jacques Cartier make a stopover there in 1535, but traces of prehistoric occupation have also been found on the eastern tip of the island.
