From July 15th to August 22, 2026.
This summer, experience something truly extraordinary at the Cité de l’Énergie in Shawinigan with immersive exhibitions, interactive visits, and the immersive nighttime show ILIA. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, take advantage of a special combo offer and enjoy a full day of activities at the Cité de l’Énergie followed by an unforgettable evening with the ILIA show.
During the day, through the permanent exhibition Planète Énergie and its multimedia show, discover energy in all its forms as well as global energy challenges. Reach the top of the famous Hydro-Québec observation tower, offering a spectacular 360-degree view of the region and its unique industrial and natural heritage. Dive into the history and international influence of Canada through the contributions of two prominent Shawinigan figures—the Prime Minister and First Lady of Canada, Mr. Jean and Mrs. Aline Chrétien—with the exhibition Canada in the World. Explore key sites of Quebec and Canadian industrialization through free hydroelectric power plant tours offered in collaboration with Hydro-Québec, and—additionally—with the interactive guided visit Step into History! The First Aluminium Plant in Canada.
In the evening, the ILIA show transports you into a fascinating world where masterful video projections, nature, the river, and history come together in a 360-degree immersive scenography. With striking special effects and live performances by actors and actresses, ILIA offers a captivating adventure for the whole family. The show is presented for one final summer at the Cité de l’Énergie, in a unique covered rotating amphitheatre—the only one of its kind in the world.
Add to this a stunning outdoor site along the Saint-Maurice River, featuring beautiful gardens, walking trails, picnic areas, and children’s play structures, and you have a must-visit destination for your vacation in Mauricie.
