The Friends of Mount Royal invite families to slow down, breathe, and (re)discover the mountain.
On the program: guided hikes, on foot or snowshoes, to observe, learn, and marvel, as well as outdoor activities to fully enjoy the winter outdoors during March break.
Birds Are Awesome! A family-friendly activity!
Perfect for opening your eyes and listening closely. Who are the birds that live on the mountain in winter? How can you recognize them? Where do they go when it’s cold? Through games, observations, and surprising anecdotes, families can learn to observe and identify the birds of Mount Royal during this walking tour!
Tracking Animal Signs - A family-friendly activity!
This snowshoe investigation activity lets children discover which animals visit the mountain by following the signs they leave behind.
A fun and surprising way to learn to read nature like a real detective (equipment included).
A Snowy Mountain
Learn how to snowshoe while discovering the forest’s winter trails! When snow covers Mount Royal, everything changes…
This outing invites you to discover how the mountain transforms in winter: landscapes, wildlife, adaptations to the cold, and little secrets hidden under the snow. Snowshoes are provided!
City Glow / By the Glow of the City Lights (available in French and English)
At dusk, go on a guided hike and discover Mount Royal from a different perspective, with an incredible view of a lit-up Montreal.
Snowshoes provided and hot chocolate included—because winter is meant to be savored too!

Want to spend the whole day on the mountain? Our rental counters offer cross-country skis, snowshoes, and skates for adults and children.
Enjoy tubing and take a well-deserved break with a hot chocolate at the café.
