Experience the wonders of the Saguenay Fjord through science, nature, and history at the Musée du Fjord. The museum's mission is to showcase science, particularly aquatic sciences, while interpreting the natural and historical heritage of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, with a special focus on the Saguenay Fjord and Baie des Ha! Ha! The museum also encourages visitors and the community to better understand the importance of maintaining a harmonious relationship with the natural environment.

Connect with our collective history through the exhibition From BALSAC to CopaQ, which explores the evolution of genealogy and genetic research in Québec. From the creation of the BALSAC database in the 1970s to the participatory CopaQ platform, this exhibition highlights the contribution of citizens to scientific research and their connection to the history of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.

Continue your visit aboard the Navis, an immersive multimedia experience that takes you on a journey through the history and formation of the Saguenay Fjord.

During the summer season, the museum also offers outdoor activities, including guided low-tide excursions that reveal the hidden life along the shoreline, as well as guided tours of the historic Saint-Alexis district, providing a fascinating glimpse into the heritage of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

Science, nature, and history come together to create an enriching experience for the entire family.

Exceptional Beings: When Science Rivals Fiction
June 12, 2026 to January 3, 2027

Some marine creatures that appear ordinary at first glance hide extraordinary secrets. Is the Northern shrimp hermaphroditic? Does the common sea star produce glue? Are a lobster's bladders located in its head? Ordinary creatures or exceptional beings? Visit this exhibition and uncover the surprising answers to these fascinating questions.

This exhibition was produced by Exploramer in collaboration with Canadian Heritage.
