CAMMAC Music Centre – Summer Music Programs

A Summer Getaway for Amateur Musicians in the Heart of the Laurentians

Immerse yourself in the best of what nature and music have to offer.

Do you play an instrument or love to sing? Looking for a different way to spend your summer? The CAMMAC Music Centre’s Summer Music Retreats offer a unique experience: a week devoted entirely to music in an exceptional natural setting.

Choose your week!

CAMMAC offers eight weeks of immersive music programming. Each week highlights a different musical theme, from classical and early music to jazz, blues, Broadway, and world music. Chamber music and choral singing are central to every week's program, alongside recorder, piano, vocal technique, and a range of other instruments and disciplines that vary from week to week.

Classes and workshops for all levels and disciplines

The programs are designed for amateur musicians of all levels, from beginners to experienced players and singers. The range of activities is extensive: orchestra, chamber music, choir, instrumental workshops, jazz combos, voice masterclasses, songwriting, Broadway theatre, and much more. Whether you want to learn a few chords on the ukulele, perform at a Cabaret evening, or deepen your understanding of music theory, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to explore your musical interests.

Learn from outstanding professional musicians

Classes and workshops are led by accomplished professional musicians from across Canada and beyond. Each week’s faculty concert is a highlight of the program – a chance to hear these artists perform together in a warm, intimate setting that makes the experience feel very different from a traditional concert hall.

Come with friends, family… or on your own

For many participants, returning to their favourite week has become an annual tradition. It’s also a place where connections form quickly among people who share a love of music.

Families are equally well served. Younger children spend their days in their own classes and activities, while teens can choose from certain adult classes as well as activities designed specifically for them. Parents, meanwhile, are free to devote themselves fully to their own musical programs. Over the course of the week, everyone comes together for meals, concerts, and relaxed social activities that include game nights, movie evenings, and singalongs around the campfire.

Rest, Recharge, and Play

Music is at the centre of the experience, but the program also leaves space for rest and well-being. Each week includes yoga or tai chi sessions, and some weeks offer additional approaches such as mindfulness meditation, Feldenkrais, or Dalcroze eurhythmics.

Between classes and rehearsals, the natural beauty of the Laurentians is right outside your door. Some participants take every spare moment to practice, taking advantage of the studios dotted throughout the forest, while others prefer to balance music with a more relaxed pace. A sandy beach on beautiful Lake MacDonald is the perfect place for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding, while tennis, and walking trails make it easy to enjoy the site throughout the day.

What truly makes CAMMAC special is the genuinely warm, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where strangers become friends by the second day, where children run freely, and where both music and nature flow naturally into every corner of the day.

Choose your week and come experience it for yourself… You may find yourself planning your return before you've even left.
