Muséoparc Vanier is a unique cultural destination located in Ottawa’s Vanier neighbourhood, dedicated to preserving and sharing Franco-Ontarian heritage and community history. As the only French-language museum in the federal capital, it offers visitors an immersive journey through the story of Vanier, also known historically as Eastview.
Inside the museum, visitors can explore the permanent exhibition “Vanier. Our Place.”, which traces the evolution of the neighbourhood from its early settlements to today’s vibrant Francophone community. Through more than 150 artifacts, archival photographs, and interactive storytelling, the exhibition highlights key families, institutions, and cultural landmarks that shaped the area.
Beyond exhibitions, Muséoparc Vanier is an active cultural hub offering guided tours, educational programs, workshops, and community activities throughout the year, making it a living space of learning and discovery.
The site is also home to Canada’s only urban sugar shack, located in a maple grove in the heart of Ottawa. This unique experience connects visitors to traditional maple syrup production, seasonal celebrations, and Franco-Canadian culinary heritage, including the annual Sugar Festival.
More than a museum, Muséoparc Vanier is a cultural anchor where history, identity, and living traditions come together in one immersive experience.
