La Cité de l'Or - Historical Site Visits

Discover the two historic sites that make up La Cité de l’Or, located in Val-d’Or in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. The Ancienne-Mine-Lamaque is an interpretation centre. Become a miner for a day and enjoy a unique experience in a real mine as you go 91 metres (300 feet) underground. In addition to this underground experience, you can visit the ground facilities, included the analysis laboratory, where you will be introduced to ore processing. Come discover this mine’s history with the exhibition “De l’Or plein les veines.” Different professions will be presented and you’ll feel the unique sensation experienced during drilling. Explore the Bourlamaque Mining Village with its log homes that are still inhabited and visit the historic house. A new interactive exhibit is waiting for you. Set in a 1940's residential décor, the exhibition will allow you to discover what characterized the past and current lives of the mining village's inhabitants. With an audioguided tour, you can explore this village with a living past and learn a bit more about its history. As a group or with your family, take part in a geocaching rally and discover geocaches with a GPS. Closed shoes are required. Reservations are always recommended.
