The Métabetchouane History and Archeology Center is a museum and heritage interpretation site located on the historic site of the Métabetchouane archaeological site, the place of arrival of the First European of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and the Métabetchouan trading post (1676-1880).
On this site of great importance, human occupation dates back over 6000 years. It is on the Pointe de Desbiens that aboriginal communities have been meeting for millennia from all over Quebec.
Today, the archaeological site delivers its treasures on the shores of majestic Lac Saint-Jean! The public is invited to discover the history of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region during interpretive activities and through the permanent exhibition "The Clash of Cultures"
